How will members learn about NPC candidates?
All NPC Candidates will fill out the candidate questionnaire. Their answers to this questionnaire will be posted on the Discussion Board and emailed to all members. The Convention Election Committee will also host at least one national candidate forum via Zoom.
When will the national candidate forums be held, and where will the video be available?
DSA will hold at least one national candidate forum or debate via Zoom no later than Friday, July 16th, 2021. The forum will be recorded, and videos will be posted on the Discussion Board, emailed to everyone who RSVPd, and emailed to all delegates.
How will the NPC be elected?
Members will vote through preferential ballot at the 2021 DSA National Convention. The DSA Constitution requires that no more than eight NPC members shall be men, and that at least five seats be reserved for people of color.
What do NPC members do?
The NPC is the highest decision making body between national conventions and acts as DSA’s Board of Directors. Please see a description of NPC member responsibilities here.
How can members be nominated for NPC?
Any DSA member in good standing may be nominated as a candidate for the NPC elections through a nomination resolution passed by a majority vote of either: (1) any chapter or OC; or (2) a majority of vote of the NPC. Members who wish to run for NPC are required to fill out a candidate questionnaire by June 16, 2021.
When is the deadline for NPC candidate nominations?
The deadline to submit all NPC nominations is June 16th, 2021.
